Brazilian Lemonade

This has been one of the hottest summers ever in Columbia.  The daily temperatures for August have almost hit triple digits and it most certainly felt like it.  Thank goodness for ceiling fans and air conditioning in the apartment.  But sometimes, not even that is enough.  We have to think of new ways to keep cool in this heat.

Well, here is my contribution.  It’s a new twist on traditional lemonade called Brazilian Lemonade, only it doesn’t use lemons.  HAH.  Try it out and let me know what you think!

Ingredients

  • 2 limes
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 cups water
  • ice

Directions

  1. Wash limes thoroughly. Cut off the ends and slice into eight wedges. Place limes in a blender with the sugar, sweetened condensed milk, water, and ice.
  2. Blend in an electric blender, pulsing 5 times. Strain through a fine mesh strainer to remove rinds. Serve over ice.
